Manslaughter charge over SA fatal crash
A 19-year-old man is facing a manslaughter charge over a fatal hit and run crash in Adelaide's south.
On Tuesday night a Ford sedan and a white Toyota Hilux collided at Morphett Vale, with a 20-year-old passenger in the Toyota dying at the scene.
The 22-year-old driver of the Toyota was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The Ford failed to stop and was later located burnt out in a gully off the Southern Expressway at nearby Reynella.
Police say major crash officers arrested a 19-year-old man on Wednesday morning and expect to charge him with manslaughter, causing death by dangerous driving and failing to comply with the Emergency Management Act.
The crash came after SA was placed in a full lockdown because of an outbreak of COVID-19.
Tuesday night's death takes the SA road toll to 58 compared with 52 at the same time last year.
