The Madeira Athletic Department has announced Tyler James as the school's next varsity baseball coach.  Coach James has been with the Mustang baseball program for the past three seasons as a varsity assistant.

His previous coaching experience includes time with the Sycamore Middle School basketball program and three years with the Sycamore High School baseball program.

The Madeira Mustangs dugout cheers from the bench in the fifth inning of the OHSAA Div. III State Semi-Final baseball game between the Madeira Mustangs and the Canfield South Range Raiders at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday, May 31, 2018. Canfield South Range advanced to the championship game with a 7-0 win over Madeira.

"We are excited to have Coach James carry on the tradition of the Mustang baseball program," Madeira athletic director Joe Kimling said.

Joining James on the varsity coaching staff is Kirby Slater. Slater will serve as a varsity assistant coach and eighth-grade science teacher at Madeira Middle School.  Slater comes to Madeira via Mason High School where he served the past two seasons on the Comet baseball staff.

The Madeira Athletic Department also recently welcomed Abby Horwitz and Sharese Beck as new cheerleading coaches.
