Yamunanagar: BKU Haryana (Charuni) national president Gurnam Singh Charuni on Tuesday lead a cavalcade of farmers from from Gadhaula toll plaza at national highway (NH) 344 in Yamunanagar district to Kundli on the Delhi border, saying the movement is being made to tell the government that farmers are still active and struggling against the farm laws. Charuni said he stands by what he had said about ‘Mission Punjab’.
The SKM had suspended Charuni for a week on July 14, for suggesting that Punjab farmer outfits involved in the farm movement against the three black farm laws should contest the 2022 assembly elections. However, he is still leading the farmers in Haryana and receiving a warm response from the people. Hundreds of farmers in their vehicles gathered at Gadhaula toll plaza in the morning to join the march.
“There is a need to start good politics by replacing dirty politics in the country,” said Charuni. “Today, governments are working for the corporate sector and not for the public. We have to change the system... The farmers’ movement is getting stronger by the day, which is evident from the huge gathering of farmers. After every 10 days or a week, we are leading a jatha (group) to the Delhi border and these jathas will continue till the time the three black farm laws are repealed,” he added.
Regarding his suspension, Charuni said, “I would thank the Sanyukta Morcha for it. I had told them (SKM leaders) that they are suspending me for one week and that even if they discuss the matter with me after the completion of my suspension, my stand will remain the same. I am not taking back my statement and my views will remain the same (about Mission Punjab).”
BKU (Charuni) Yamunanagar district president Sanju Gundiana, general secretary Harpal Sudhal, director Mandeep Rod Chhappar and Sandeep Topra were also present on the occasion.
