The five shortlisted solutions will be tested in one of the group’s hypermarkets or supermarkets. The challenge is being held in partnership with students at France’s École Polytechnique who will assess the applications.

The solutions will be selected based on their abilities to remove as many of the irritating factors as possible that consumers, producers and store personnel flag up in the current systems. A panel made up of Carrefour teams and partners will decide who the winners are.

All the finalists will be given the opportunity to deliver their pitch in front of members of Carrefour’s Food Transition pact, which is made up of 50 of Carrefour’s international manufacturing partners. The five winners will have access to the Lab set up at the Boulogne Market store and the Montesson Hypermarket. Essentially, they will be able to spend three months testing their solution at a Carrefour store. They will have space to work in the test store and will be able to monitor their project live throughout its implementation. They will also get to work with Carrefour’s teams (development partnership with Carrefour) and will get feedback from store customers.
