The 70th edition of Miss Universe will take place in Israel in December.

The Miss Universe organisation announced on Tuesday that the competition would be hosted in the southern resort city of Eilat. USA TODAY reports that Steve Harvey will return as host.

In May, Mexico's Andrea Meza was crowned the winner at the 69th edition of Miss Universe, which saw 74 countries compete for the coveted title in Hollywood, Florida. Mario Lopez and Olivia Culpo hosted the three-hour show, and South Africa's Demi-Leigh Tebow (Miss Universe 2017) served as an expert analyst.

South Africa's Natasha Joubert missed out on a spot in the Miss Universe top 21

South Africa's Zozibini Tunzi has become the longest-reigning titleholder in Miss Universe history after the annual pageant was postponed in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
