The United Building on Field Street in Durban, which houses a Cash Crusaders store, caught on fire on Tuesday morning.
This is the third building to catch fire in the city centre in under a week.
Residents living in the city centre first reported seeing smoke coming from the building on Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, businesses and street traders that were spared from the looting are slowly resuming their operations around the Durban CBD.
Earlier on Tuesday, eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda and members of the Durban executive council went on a tour around the City to speak with business owners who were affected by the looting.
Kaunda appealed to the business owners to keep their businesses in Durban.
