In Odisha, the return car festival in Puri is being celebrated today. The festival marks the return of Lord Jagannath and his siblings to Sri Jagannath Temple from the Sri Gundicha Temple after a brief sojourn. It is also known as Baahudaa Yatra.
The deities have begun their homecoming to Sri Mandir on the ninth day of the Rath Yatra that was observed on the 12th of this month. Soon after the rituals like Chhera Pahanraa were over, the deities were ushered onto their respective raths.
As was done in the Rath Yatra, in the Bahudaa Yatra too, the Raths are being pulled by the Sevayats or Servitors of the Deities.
However, due to COVID-19, curfew has been imposed in and around the Badadanda where the raths are rolling towards the Sri Jagannath Temple. As in the previous year, this time too the general devotees have been barred from taking part in the festival due to the pandemic.
