Apple Music Lossless and Spatial Audio rolling out in India, here is how to turn them on

Apple Music Lossless and Spatial Audio have now started rolling out for Apple device users in India. Both the features were announced by the tech giant in June during its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) and were supposed to be available starting July 1. However, they were initially rolled out in other markets and took a while to reach India. They were eventually rolled out quietly on late Monday night.

We have received the update on iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 14.6 and several other users have also shared screenshots on social media platforms, confirming the roll out. Lossless audio will allow users to stream music in high quality. The feature works with all Apple devices and can also be accessed through compatible equipment.

The compatible songs now show the Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio labels under them. There are a lot of user curated playlists on the app already which can be accessed for early experience.

How to turn on Lossless Audio on iPhone

-- Go the Settings menu.

-- Search for Music and open it.

-- Under the audio quality, you will see the lossless audio option.

-- You can choose between Always On, Automatic and Off options.

How to turn on Lossless Audio on a Mac

-- Go the Apple Music app.

-- From the menu, select Preferences.

-- Click on the Playback tab.

-- You will see the lossless audio option under the audio quality.

Apple had announced in June that its Lossless tier will start at CD quality, which is 16 bit at 44.1 kHz (kilohertz). It will go up to 24 bit at 48 kHz and is playable natively on Apple devices. Apple Music also offers Hi-Resolution Lossless all the way up to 24 bit at 192 kHz. Apple has said that subscribers will be able to enjoy over 75 million songs in lossless sound quality starting next month.

Apple will use ALAC or Apple Lossless Audio Codec to retain most details of the audio as recorded by the artist in the studio.

Do you need to pay for Lossless audio?

Both Lossless Audio and Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos has arrived at Apple Music at the existing rates. This means that subscribers will not have to pay extra to access any of these features. They will included in the existing Apple plans. However, you may still need to spend some money on buying the compatible devices.
