Paris Motor Show returns for 2022 after four-year hiatus
Last year’s Paris Motor Show was cancelled due to Covid-19, but the event’s organisers will welcome attendees through its doors next year
The Paris Motor Show will return next year after last year’s event was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The exhibition is back on for 2022 and will welcome ticketed attendees through its doors between 17 and 23 October.
Also known as Mondial de l’Automobile, the Paris show was the world’s first motor show when it was launched back in 1898. Since 1976, it has been held every two years, alternating with the similarly important Frankfurt Motor Show.
Show organisers have been busy over lockdown, too, partnering with the Equip Auto trade show to form the all-encompassing Paris Automotive Week. Until now, the trade show was held on odd-numbered years so it didn’t clash with the motor show.
So, unlike previous years, the next Paris Motor Show will give guests the chance to browse stands from engineering firms, parts suppliers and repair companies, as well as view the latest concepts and production cars from the world’s biggest car brands.
As usual, the Paris Motor Show will be held in the Paris expo Porte de Versailles, which is the largest exhibition centre in France. However, we’re still waiting for a list of the attending manufacturers and traders to be published.
In 2018, big brands including Audi, BMW and Mercedes launched important cars such as the e-tron, 3 Series and EQC respectively, while French brands such as Citroen and DS hunted for headlines with the C5 Aircross Hybrid Concept and DS 3 Crossback.
