Businessman and husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Raj Kundra, who was arrested in a pornography case, was produced before the Esplanade court on July 20. He was then sent to police custody till July 23 along with another person named Ryan Tharp. Meanwhile, in the latest development in the case, certain WhatsApp chats are said to be the 'key piece of evidence'. According to sources, "Key piece of evidence in Raj Kundra's arrest are WhatsApp chats between Kundra and his partners with relation to porn content." In one of these chats a partner was also quoted saying, 'We are releasing only one movie a week so yes, the sales pick up...' Reports also claim that these chats have Raj Kundra and his partners discussing revenue gains and profit-sharing from the content sold on the mobile application.
