Karnataka: Man conducts wife's last rites, ends life

MANGALURU: A 53-year-old man ended his life by hanging himself, after completing the last rites of his wife in Karnataka.
Shivappa was married to Chandravathi for the last eight years. The couple were living in Mudipire in Karnataka's Machina village. Shivappa was reportedly an alcoholic, and Chandravathi, upset that they had no children, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself to a tree near the house on Friday.
Shivappa was reportedly upset with her demise. On Saturday, after completing the last rites of his wife, he is suspected to have committed suicide between 10pm on Saturday and 6am on Sunday, by hanging himself to an iron pole that was laid to tie a shamiyana for his wife’s funeral ceremony.
A case has been registered at the Punjalkatte police station.
