Coroner: Dunmore shooting ruled a homicide
Jul. 19—A deadly shooting Friday night in Dunmore has been ruled a homicide, Lackawanna County Coroner Tim Rowland said.
Tyler S. Sitar, 22, was fatally injured when an AR-15 rifle was discharged and a bullet struck him in the abdomen, Rowland said.
Sitar was transported to Geisinger Community Medical Center where he died later that evening while in surgery, Rowland said.
Police responded to 413 William St. around 8:17 p.m. for the report of a man suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.
Luigi Frank Lorusso, 23, of Shoemakersville, who was arrested in the shooting death, told police he accidently shot his friend.
Lorusso faces manslaughter charges for negligent handling of a gun which results in death.
