'I started writing a book because I was enjoying the freedom of not having to think about going on tour.
The singer said he tried to write a 'fantastic novel' however he found writing very hard and decided to turn the words into lyrics instead.
'Now I've written a load of songs for kids that are really good. It's all demo-ed and I'm very excited about it.'
Kaiser Chiefs songs already seem to be popular with kids as their popular track Ruby won a Nickelodeon children's TV award in 2007.

Last month the singer tied the knot in an intimate ceremony with Grace Zito.
Ricky discussed his 'perfect' wedding to Grace after they were forced to postpone it four times due to the pandemic, however he admitted they 'missed out' on certain wedding festivities.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain via video link, the singer said: 'There was only 20 of us there, we had a great time. I mean, it was really good.'
He flashed a look at his wedding ring and added: 'You would expect the bigger the better but I could talk to everyone, it wasn't rushed. It was a great day, I remember all of it. Yes, perfect, it was great.'

Weddings throughout the UK were limited to 30 attendees to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
However, Prime Minister Boris Johnson lifted the restriction on June 21st, instead allowing the number of guests for a wedding to be dictated by the venue's capacity.
As their wedding was held before the change in rules, GMB host Susanna Reid asked if the singer felt there was anything they missed out on.
'Yes, bell ringing,' Ricky added. 'We didn't have any of that and there was no dancing so we couldn't do the Hokey Cokey or anything like that.'

The couple tied the knot earlier this month in a socially-distanced and Catholic ceremony with 20 guests at St Patrick's Church in Huddersfield, where Grace's parents and grandparents previously married.
The frontman shared photos of his wedding to the stylist earlier in June- including a stunning snap of the bride in her dress.
In one image uploaded to Instagram, Ricky larked around with some of the guests at the Covid-friendly reception.
Another photo saw Grace in her sweeping cream gown. The brunette looked beautiful in the off-shoulder number, with crimped detailing at the bust, flowing into a floor-length skirt.

The stunning gown was designed by her close friend Cherry Williams.
Grace was seen in the image holding a bouquet of pink peonies in one hand and champagne flute in the other, under a white canopy adorned with flowers.
A pink jukebox sat in the corner, and a vintage motor waited outside in the sunshine on the grass.
Another photo saw Ricky posing for a selfie with Grace and other guests, including his parents, as they tucked into their wedding feast.
He captioned the snaps: 'So many thanks to all the local companies and friends who helped pull it all together so fast. Starting with the incredible flowers by @stemsdesign

'One of my favourite wedding pics. Naturally there are more to come...'
Talking in a recent interview with OK! magazine, which also featured stunning pictures from their big day, Ricky and Grace insisted there will be another 'huge' celebration for people who didn't attend due to restrictions only allowing 30 guests at the time.
His Kaiser Chiefs bandmates weren't invited to his wedding for this reason.
The couple performed their first dance to The Whole Of The Moon by The Waterboys.
After the wedding at St Patrick's Church, the newly-married couple enjoyed a romantic reception at Woodcroft Estate where they arrived in a Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II and had confetti made from the plants from the park they got engaged at.
Talking to the magazine from their honeymoon near Ascot - after they had to cancel a getaway to their home in Menorca, Spain - Ricky said: 'It's not the last opportunity we'll ever have to have a big party, There's so much to look forward to in the future now.

'I feel like it's a weight off our shoulders. I feel like we can now move on and anything seems possible now. There were loads of friends that couldn't be there – my band weren't even there. But we've got plenty of opportunity to have a big party and we are going to do it.'
While Grace added: 'It's quite nice actually, because there's so many people who've been through exactly the same thing and everyone's got a story. I think a lot of people are deciding to have smaller weddings because you can't wait around forever, can you?'
Ricky and Grace, who have been together since 2015, exchanged vows three years after announcing their engagement, and were joined by their beloved pet pooch Reedus.
The singer had celebrated his stag party the previous evening, before he and Grace exchanged vows.
After the celebration, Ricky shared photos from their honeymoon in Berkshire and wrote: 'Me and Grace had the best time on our 3 day honeymoon… messing about on the river, sitting in the garden, and eating too much.
'Thanks to everyone at @limelightescapes @limelightloves For sorting it out, and all at @braycottages for being so great. :).'
