Accusing the Central government of "treason", the Congress on Monday has sought resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded an inquiry against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the allegations of spying on political leaders and journalists in the country.

Addressing a press conference with other parties, congress spokesperson randeep surjewala held amit shah responsible for the spying issue and said the opposition demand his immediate resignation.
He said the congress with all Opposition parties will take over the issue and soon decide on a judicial or parliamentary probe in the serious matter which compromises national security.

Surjewala accused the narendra modi government of murdering the Constitution, and dismantling national security. He said the dispensation was guilty of "treason".

Congress rajya sabha MP and leader of Opposition in Upper house Mallikarjuna kharge said amit shah should immediately resign as he is the person to be held responsible and "does not deserve" to be in the position.

Kharge accused the government has attacked people's freedom of speech and their fundamental rights. Spying on judges, opposition leaders, journalists, ministers and activists is a serious crime, he said.
Kharge asserted the congress party along with other opposition parties will raise the pegasus issue strongly in Parliament.
