UK based rental company One Stop Hire has acquired Lord Hire Centres with the impending retirement of managing director Chris Rowley - the son in law of the company's founder.
Newcastle based Lord Hire Centres was established in 1971 and offers a wide range of tools and equipment, including low level powered access and alloy scaffold towers throughout the North East of England.
The acquisition takes the One Stop Hire depot network to 25 locations across the North West, North East, Yorkshire and the Midlands.

One Stop directors Steve and Danni Hitchen said: “When the opportunity to buy Lord Hire came along it was perfect timing as we were looking at the North East as an area to move into due to customer demand. The opportunity to get such a long established business with what is a perfect network of branches in the region was compelling. It became obvious that the business was very much aligned with OSH in terms of the family owned & family run culture. They have very experienced & dedicated staff whose customer focus replicates our own so we are delighted to welcome them into our family. Both businesses have some strong attributes & services that will compliment each other & benefit the existing clients on both sides. We would particularly like to wish long standing MD Chris Rowley, the very best in his retirement”
One Stop Hire was established by Steve and Danni Hitchen following their departure from Ainscough Crane Hire in 2009. Earlier this year they opened new ‘green field’ branches in Nottingham and Northampton and introduced a new lifting equipment division.
