Virginia to put USD 700 mln into achieving universal broadband by 2024

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam said the state will invest USD 700 million in American Rescue Plan funding to achieve universal broadband in the state by 2024. The announcement pushes forward that goal year from 2028, with the majority of connections obligated within the next 18 months. Northam said Virginia has so far successfully bridged half of the digital divide, with an estimated 233,500 unserved locations remaining.
