Taiwan-based FCCL specialist Taiflex Scientific has reiterated its revenue outlook this year of a slight increase compared to 2020.
Taiflex expects substantial improvement in its product mix to make a positive contribution to company profitability in 2021, thanks to orders placed by its US-based clients for new products. A seasonal pick-up in customer orders will be driving Taiflex' revenue growth in the second half of the year, the company said.
Taiflex is also eyeing a bigger share of the global MPI (modified polyimide) antenna segment this year, while kicking off shipments for LCP (liquid crystal polymer) boards in small volume, the FCCL maker noted.
Taiflex has started supplying FCCLs for LCP antenna boards for wearables, and will be ramping up its output as long as it cuts into the supply chain for smartphone applications, according to industry sources. Eyeing huge potential in the smartphone antenna sector, the FCCL firm has already acquired LCP materials processing equipment.
Taiflex disclosed previously capex this year of between NT$1 billion (US$35.6 million) and NT$1.5 billion, compared with the only NT$440 million allocated in 2020. The capex growth is to support its capacity expansion with additional production lines set to come online starting the fourth quarter.
Taiflex is reportedly undertaking capacity expansion at its factory sites in southern Taiwan and China's Jiangsu province.
