UP supplies record 25,032 MW power in 24 hours

Amid rising mercury and humidity level, Uttar Pradesh created a record of supplying 25,032 MW power on Friday night. UP power minister Shrikant Sharma claimed that the the discoms are supplying power up to 24,000 MW for the past one month.

“In past four and a half years, the demand for power supply has increased by 9000 MW. In 2016-17, the state power demand was 16,000 MW which rose to 23,867 MW by July of 2020.The rising demand of power is an indicator that the state is on the path of growth,” he said.

The transmission capacity of the state has been increased up to 26,000 MW till date and by the end of current financial year it will cross 28,000 MW, he said, adding “by the year 2025, this capacity will be 32,400 MW in the state.”

Minister further stated that the government invested Rs 12,111 crore to install 237 feeders including 765, 400, 220, 132 kv. Since the Yogi government came to power, a total of 45,085 km long circuit transmission line has been laid.

“Currently the power generation capacity of all the plants in UP is 26,937 MW, which is 4000 MW more than the capacity of four years ago.
