Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is bringing back his COVID-19 press conference to update the state on the Delta variant. 

At 4 p.m. today, Beshear and Dr. Steven Stack, Kentucky's public health commissioner, will discuss the COVID-19 variant and what's happening in Kentucky.

The Delta variant has since become the dominant strain of the virus worldwide, reported to be 50% more transmissible than the dominant Alpha variant. In the U.S., it is mainly infecting people who have not been fully vaccinated. 

All three U.S.-approved vaccines — Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson — have reported effectiveness in fighting the Delta variant. 

The news conference will be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube.
