A series of attacks Sunday afternoon in Arizona have ended with five people shot, including one fatality, and two or three children missing, Tucson police said.
The gunman who is a suspect in the attacks was critically wounded by a police officer after leaving a five shot and one person dead.
Emergency services were first alerted around 3:45pm to reports of a house fire.
While they were on their way, dispatchers were also summoned to a medical emergency at Quincy Douglas Park, nearby.

A 35-year-old man is accused of opening fire on the arriving ambulance crew, Tucson police Chief Chris Magnus told news outlets.
The driver of the ambulance, a 20-year-old man, was shot in the head. He is now in critical condition, while a paramedic in the passengers seat, a 21-year-old woman, was shot in the chest and arm. She is said to be stable.
The gunman then jumped back in his car and fled driving up to the scene of a nearby house fire where he began shooting at firefighters and neighbors who were trying to douse the flames, the chief said.
One 44-year-old neighbor was shot in the head and died at the scene.
A firefighter was shot in the arm, and another bullet grazed another neighbor's head.

Police found the unidentified remains of a victim inside the home, while between 'two and three' children that live at the house are still missing
A 'badly burned' body was also found inside the home that was on fire, and 'two or three' children who lived there are missing, Magnus said to KVOA.
Officials were working to determine the location of the children.
As the gunman fled the scene once again, he encountered a police patrol vehicle that was making its way up to the fire.
'As one of the officers drives up the street, he sees the suspect in the vehicle and the suspect sees him,' the police chief explained. 'The suspect then attempted to ram the officer ... disabling the police car.'
The officer returned fire and shot the suspect, critically wounding him, the chief said. The officer was not injured.

Magnus called the situation 'extremely complicated.'
'This is a highly tragic, really horrific incident, with many unknowns,' Magnus said.
The investigation was ongoing. It was unclear what prompted the attacks.
City of Tucson Mayor Regina Romero released a statement late on Sunday night.
'I ask our entire Tucson community to join me in thinking about and praying for the victims of this afternoon's fire and shooting by Silverlake Park, including first responders from AMR and the Tucson Fire Department. This was a horrific and senseless act of violence,' she tweeted.
'Thank you to the men and women at @Tucson_Police, @TucsonFireDeptand all of the first responders and neighbors who courageously responded to the scene, knowingly putting themselves in danger.'
