Haryana power engineers oppose amendment bill | Gurgaon News


KURUKSHETRA: On the opening day of the Parliament session, the Haryana Power Engineers Association (HPEA) will hold protest meetings in each circle on Monday against the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021.
The HPEA’s executive body met in Kurukshtra on Sunday, where its general secretary, K K Malik, said: “The monsoon session bill should not be rushed but referred to a standing committee on energy. As main stakeholders, the electricity consumers and power-sector employees should gat a chance to place their views before Parliament.”
Association president Rampal Singh said: “The Electricity Act of 2003 allowed the privatisation of power generation through de-licensing and now the new proposed bill lay the path for the privatisation of power distribution through de-licensing.”
