The seized hashish oil is worth Rs 2 crore
BENGALURU: Two Kerala-based men living in the city were arrested on Friday and 4kg of hashish oil worth around Rs 2 crore was recovered from them. The accused were caught red-handed while carrying the oil in their backpacks, Suddaguntepalya police said.
The accused are Mohammed Irfan, 24, resident of Hulimavu and from Kozhikode, and Thari Azeem Mohammed, 25, from Hulimavu and a native of Malappuram.
Deputy commissioner of police (southeast) Srinath Mahadev Joshi said the duo arrived in the city and rented a room in Hulimavu. “Prime accused Irfan was earlier living in Begur and worked with different private companies. Later, he went to Kerala and returned to the city with Azeem a few months ago. They were caught red-handed after a drug peddler arrested earlier provided a clue,” he said. The peddler had revealed Irfan’s name and cops were trying to trace him. He had changed his mobile number, but police finally managed to track the new one.
According to Joshi, the two purchased the oil from a person in Visakhapatnam. “Pouring it in plastic covers and placing them inside backpacks, they arrived here. We are questioning them about their antecedents and will contact our Kerala counterparts to know if the accused have any criminal records,” he said.
