One person rescued: 4-5 men feared buried as building collapses in Gurgaon

A three-storey building collapsed in Gurgaon’s Khawaspur village at 7 pm on Sunday, with police officials stating that “four to five people” are suspected to be buried under the rubble.

According to officials, the structure was located on the premises of the ‘Cargo Deluxe Company’ and served as a residence for the employees.

“Eyewitnesses have told us that a pillar fell first, and then the entire structure came down. We have rescued one person, but we don’t know how many were inside,” said DCP (Crime) Rajiv Deshwal.

“The guard told us that four to five people were there, but we will be able to confirm only once the operation is complete,” he said.

Officials said “local and district administration teams” have reached the spot, including Pataudi MLA Satya Prakash Jarawata, SDM Pradeep Kumar, fire brigade, ambulances, and senior officials of the administration. They said the rescue work was being done on “war footing”. An NDRF team is also at the spot.

“Teams were immediately dispatched to the spot for relief and rescue work as soon as we were alerted to the incident. Ambulance and doctors are at the spot. Relief and rescue operations are being carried out,” said Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg.

Additional Divisional Fire Officer Gulshan Kalra said, “This was a residential building. One person has been rescued and sent to the hospital. We don’t have a confirmation on how many people are trapped inside at the moment.”

Speaking to The Indian Express at 11 pm, Civil Surgeon Dr Virender Yadav said, “We have rescued only one person so far. No other people have been pulled out, alive or otherwise, although we have been told that four-five people were buried in the rubble. The person rescued has been taken to Civil Hospital in Gurgaon. He does not appear to have any serious injuries, but this can be confirmed only after a medical examination.”
