RJD protests against price rise, burns effigies of Modi and Nitish

Patna, Jul 18 (UNI) RJD on Sunday protested before block headquarters across Bihar to vent its ire over price rise and also burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Protests were organised before the block headquarters in Bihar, at the call given by RJD president Lalu Prasad.

RJD leaders and workers took out a protest march with bullock carts carrying hollow cooking gas cylinders to express anger and sufferings of the people due to the steep rise in prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas. They also burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for their failures to check the price rise.

Leader of the opposition Tejaswi Prasad Yadav, while speaking on the occasion said that people were facing acute hardships due to the price rise of petrol, diesel cooking gas and other essential commodities. Both Centre and the state government appeared indifferent over the price of rice and they were not taking concrete steps to bring it under control, he lamented.

As it is, Prasad had given a call for protest against the price at the block level on July 18 and in district headquarters including Patna on July 19. Prasad, in his message posted on social media, exhorted the party leaders and workers to actively participate in the protest march against price rise on July 18 and 19.
