With better supply of vials, the vaccination backlog for second doses could be cleared to some extent over the past three days
KOLKATA: The KMC will continue to keep a substantial portion of the vaccine supply for the recipients of the second dose. According to a KMC health department official, the reservation of vaccines for recipients of the second dose may well exceed 70% from next week.
At the end of Saturday, KMC health officials expressed satisfaction over an improved supply of vaccine doses in the past three days. “We have reasons to feel satisfied for the time being owing to the improved supply of vaccine vials for the past three days. We hope to get uninterrupted supply for the next week, too.
If this continues, we will be able to bridge the gap between recipients of first dose and that of the second,” said a KMC health department official who deals with the distribution of vaccine to KMC-run Covid vaccination clinics (CVC) Going by vaccination figures, the KMC-run vaccination centres on Saturday continued to get additional supply of doses, compared to that in the last week.
“On Saturday, we sent 200 vaccine doses on an average to our vaccination clinics. We could clear a portion of the second dose backlog by administering around 150 doses to recipients of second doses for the third consecutive day,” said a KMC health department official.
The civic official said the supply of vaccines from Swathya Bhawan would remain as good as the past three days of the current week. “On Monday, we will be able to supply around 200 doses to our vaccination clinics. Hope we will get an additional supply from Tuesday,” a KMC health department official said.
