Stalin leaves for Delhi, to meet Prez tomorrow

Chennai, July 18 (UN) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin
today left for New Delhi where he would be meeting President
Ram Nath Kovind tomorrow.
Mr Stalin was seen off at the airport by senior officials of the
State government.
This would be the first meeting with Mr Kovind after he assumed
office as Chief Minister in May.
This would be Mr Stalin's second visit to Delhi. Earlier, he had
visited the National capital last month and met Prime Minister
Narendra Modi and submitted a memorandum on various issues
concerning the State, including exemption from NEET, additional
COVID vaccine allocation, Mekedatu dam row with Karnataka.
With the Mekedatu issue back in the limelight and Karnataka hellbent
on going ahead with the construction despite strong objections from
Tamil Nadu, it was not known whether Mr Stalin would meet Mr Modi
on the issue during his present visit.
Mr Stalin had already apprised Mr Modi on the issue and also written
letters to him. Tamil Nadu Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan also
twice visited Delhi and held discussions with Union Jal Shakthi Minister
Gajendra Singh Shekahawat, reiterating Tamil Nadu's objection to the
project.
Two days back, an all-party delegation from Tamil Nadu also met the
Union Minister and handed over copies of the resolution adopted on
the issue at a meeting of leaders of all legislature parties.
