Morikawa wins the British Open at Sandwich
Collin Morikawa has produced a flawless final round of 66 to win the 149th British Open Championship at Royal St George's.
Morikawa, last year's winner of the US PGA, didn't drop a shot and holed four birdie putts in Sunday's final round to take his second major, finishing two shots ahead of his fellow American, 2017 champion Jordan Spieth, with a 15 under par total of 265.
Morikawa was all smiles as he received a magnificent reception from the huge Sandwich galleries walking down the last, having held his nerve all afternoon.
It was a remarkably composed Open debut for the 24-year-old who has been a professional for barely two years.
He's the first man since the late, great Bobby Jones to win two majors at his first eight attempts and the first to win two at his first attempt.
Spieth, with an exciting 66, overhauled Morikawa's final round playing partner Louis Oosthuizen, who had led the tournament from the start and was a shot clear going into Sunday's round.
The South African finished tied third on 11-under after his final round of 71 alongside Spaniard Jon Rahm, who recorded a 66.
