HYDERABAD: A short film director, who was allegedly troubling a
Telugu playback singer by misusing her photo and name while uploading content on the web, was arrested from Bengaluru by Rachakonda police on Saturday.
Rachakonda police said that the 34-year-old accused, a resident of Bengaluru, was arrested under Section 354 D, 509, 417, 419 of
IPC besides the Information Technology Act.
The victim’s father, in his complaint, told police that an unknown person had been using the photo of his daughter, a singer, and her name for his production house without her consent.
“My daughter, a famous playback singer in
Telugu film Industry, noticed that some unknown person had created a film production company on her name, displayed her pictures as logo and further created social media accounts on her name using her pictures,’’ the singer’s father said.
According to him, his daughter had suspicion about a man who was creating inconvenience to her by allegedly forcing her to give consent to use her photos for his business.
The accused first saw the victim in an interview. He joined her fan page on
Facebook and started to like and comment on every post on that page. Later, he created a YouTube channel on her name by keeping her photo as logo.
