12 Covid +ve students to write SSLC exam in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

MANGALURU: In the wake of Covid-19, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have made elaborate preparations for the smooth conduct of SSLC examination to be held on July 19 and 22.

According to data available with the department of public instructions, 12 students in undivided Dakshina Kannada region who have tested positive for Covid-19 will be writing the exam.

Officials said nine positive students will be writing the examination in Dakshina Kannada. A total of 32,567 students will write the exam at 179 centres in the district. While 441 students are from Kerala, 121 will arrive via Talapady. The district will arrange free bus services for all students, said deputy director of public instruction (DDPI) Malleswamy.
“We have held discussions with KSRTC and private bus operators and they have agreed to provide free transportation for children writing the SSLC examination. Meanwhile, we have also borrowed four buses from private educational institutions to ferry children from various locations to examination centres,” Malleswamy said.


Dakshina Kannada ZP CEO Kumar said since the SSLC exams will be conducted on a new format of multiple-choice questions, schools in the district have already conducted mock exams. Model question papers have also been sent to all students, he said.


3 positive students to write exam in Udupi



A total of three students, who have tested positive, will be appearing for the SSLC examination in Udupi. Udupi DDPI NH Nagur told TOI that all arrangements have been made for the infected children to write the exam. “While 13,931 have enrolled to write the exam in Udupi, 77 centres have been set up in the district.



Invigilators have been appointed for all the 1,780 exam halls in the district. While 51 exam centres have complete CCTV coverage, 26 are covered partially. The health department will depute teams for all the exam centres, he said, adding that all centres are sanitized by the respective urban local bodies and gram panchayats,” he added.
