Ranchi, Jul 17 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Saturday said his party is preparing to go alone in the Assembly Elections of Uttar Pradesh ,however, it was also ready to 'extend its hand' if someone comes forward.
Salman Khurshid while interacting with the press at JPCC headquarters here, said Congress was present on 7-8 seats in the state which was not the correct reflection of the ground strength of the party.
"However those who are claiming that they will bag 300 seats in Uttar Pradesh they should come forward," he said, adding that the Congress party is preparing to go alone in the polls and on Saturday Priyanka Gandhi who is in-charge of Uttar Pradesh is in Lucknow to interact with the party leaders to asses preparations for the polls and it was with her permission that he had come to Ranchi or else he too would have attended the meeting.
He said the Congress party can not do everything alone but others also have to think over the similar lines. The senior leader said the party was ready to extend cooperation if someone comes forward.
In the 2017 Assembly elections, the Congress and Samajwadi party had jointly contested the polls with Samajwadi Party contesting on 298 seats and the Congress on 105 seats with the national party managing to win only seven seats.
