On Friday, India reported 38,019 fresh cases and 559 deaths from the virus
So far, 2,55,923 deaths have been recorded in the second wave (since March 1), nearly 1 lakh more than the toll in the first wave (1.57 lakh)
Last month, the rate was even higher at 3.07%
In July so far, a death rate of 2.12% has been recorded
The overall CFR from the pandemic in India stands at 1.33%
