Ola Electric records 1 lakh bookings for e-scooter in 24 hours

NEW DELHI: Ola Electric announcement of booking commencement for its electric scooter has received an overwhelming response with record 1,00,000 reservations within the first 24 hours.
Ola Electric on Thursday opened the bookings for its much-awaited upcoming electric scooter with an initial amount of Rs 499. Many people reported getting error messages and official website crashing while booking the much-anticipated vehicle.
Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO, Ola said “I am thrilled by the tremendous response from customers across India for our first electric vehicle.”
“The unprecedented demand is a clear indicator of shifting consumer preferences to EVs. This is a huge step forward in our mission to transition the world to sustainable mobility. I thank all the consumers who have booked the Ola Scooter and have joined the EV revolution. This is only the beginning!”, he added.
Recently, the e-scooter images had surfaced online. As per the revealed images, it is expected that along with the black, Ola will also offer the pink and light blue trims.

Ola electric scooter is highly expected to get a powerful motor paired with a lithium-ion battery that would enable the vehicle to give best-performance acceleration. It is highly likely to feature an app-based start-up system, a large TFT display showcasing information like calls and SMS alerts, navigation, ride statistics and others.
The Ola Electric scooter will likely be launched in July in India. It will rival the likes of the Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450X and TVS iQube Electric.
The Ola electric scooter would be manufactured at the 500-acre facility in Tamil Nadu. This facility is targeted to produce 10 million units per annum.
