A bomb hoax call was made to the air traffic control (ATC) at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Saturday. The caller said that RDX was present onboard a Mumbai-bound flight from Dubai. However, there were no passengers on board.
The ATC had received a call at 3.40 pm saying there was a bomb on the flight. The city police and Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) swung into action and beefed up security at the airport. After the flight landed, it was checked thoroughly, but nothing suspicious was found. The cops later termed it as a hoax call.
“After we received the call, we stopped boarding and the flight was checked thoroughly for two hours. When we did not find anything thing, we allowed passengers to board the flight at 6 pm, said deputy commissioner of police (Zone 8) Manjunath Singe.
Investigations are on. Security continued to be beefed up at the airport as another flight was scheduled to land in the city from Dubai. No case has been registered.
