    Eating times, sugar and 'spikes'

I'm on my first cut. I've dropped 4-5 kilos since I started last month. I've been strict with the exercise and diet. Basically two meals a day, breakfast, then gym, sport drink before/during workout and chicken/turkey and broccoli + protein shake after workout. That's it for the day. I've cut out sugar/processed foods completely and fought the cravings. I have a cheat meal of a 9" meat pizza every weekend.

An hour ago I caved in for the first time and had a chocolate digestive. Who gives a **** I know, but I ate dinner about 4 hours ago and I've read contradicting posts from different people about 'insulin spikes' and that eating something sugary like a digestive(94cals) at this time will trigger a response and hinder your fat loss. Can someone give me a clear cut no BS answer whether or not this is true? Is this one 94cal chocolate biscuit 4 hours after I ate lunch going to dint my cut in the short term?

It is nonsense and will make zero difference in your fat loss.

Fat gain or loss is determined by energy (calorie) balance either moving to negative (fat loss) or positive (fat gain)…. The timing of consuming the energy doesn’t matter at all.

This. The only impact it could possibly make is on your blood sugar, which could potentially make you hungrier or hypoglycemic if you have an issue like diabetes, but this in and of itself won't make you gain weight unless you actually consume more food in response.
