Asserting that the magnitude of the COVID-19 pandemic in the State has reached an alarming state despite efforts from the State Government, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has on Friday appealed to the people to stay home during the ten days total curfew (July 18 to 27).In a video uploaded on his Facebook page, Biren noted that the death toll and positivity rate in the second wave is higher than the previous one.
He continued that the Covid situation in the State is still distressing though shortages of oxygen, doctors, nurses, hospital beds and other logistics have been resolved.
Saying that Manipur which has a meagre population of just around 28 lakhs will be affected severely if the current Covid infection trend continues, the Chief Minister appealed to all to stay home during the ten days curfew which is set to begin from July 18 .
Biren also stated that the Government will not let anyone face starvation during the ten days curfew.
The Government has also been providing food grains to the public free of cost in addition to providing subsidised food grains under NFSA.
The CM also pointed out that no efforts would be able to contain the pandemic unless the public strictly adhere to the Covid guidelines and SOPs laid down by the health experts and Government.
Cautioning that storming markets during the curfew relaxation hours will aggravate the Covid situation in the State, the Chief Minister asked all who participate in the Id festival to adhere to the Covid appropriate behaviors and SOPs given by the State Government while celebrating the festival.
