UP: Court frames charges against Mukhtar Ansari in arms licence case

PRAYAGRAJ: The MP and MLA court of Allahabad on Friday framed charges against mafia-turned-politician, Mukhtar Ansari in an alleged fake arms licence case. Mukhtar is currently lodged in Banda jail.
It is alleged that a case was registered against Mukhtar on June 10, 1987 at police station Mohammadabad in Ghazipur district, alleging that he obtained an armed licence for double barrel guns on the basis of a fake document.
Now, charges have been framed in this case after many years and the trial will be held at MP and MLA court at Allahabad.
During the court proceedings, Mukhtar was connected through video conferencing. He denied the charges levelled against him and asked the court to reconsider its decision of framing charges.
However, the special judge of MP and MLA court, Alok Kumar Srivastava framed the charges against Mukhtar through the video conference proceedings.
