LAHARIGHAT, July 15: An on-duty policeman was attacked at Laharighat on Wednesday. Tension has been brewing in the area since. Notably, the policeman was attacked at a time when the police are providing around-the-clock checks to curb the easing menace of illegal activities during pandemic times. Seven districts of the state including Morigaon are still under full containment for the Covid situation.

It is being alleged that a number of people have been violating the covid protocols in the district. As the police were performing its duty of closing the markets after the permitted hours, a group of people lunged on Vinay Malakar, on-duty SI of Laharighat police station. An additional team of the Laharighat police station reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
