LUCKNOW: The Sitapur police on Thursday arrested Rajan Chaurasiya (25) for the murder of his elder brother Sandeep (30) who was missing since Monday.
The police said the incident came to light when the victim’s mother Malti on Wednesday reached the Attaria police station and informed police that her elder son Sandeep was missing since Monday. “We immediately registered the case and launched a manhunt. The police reached questioned locals and the victim’s younger brother,” said, SHO, Attaria, Awadhesh Kumar. “The police were suspecting something fishy as the victim’s mother had visited the police station to lodge the complaint and not his younger brother,” he said, adding “we rounded up Rajan who after some grilling confessed to the crime. He told us that his elder brother had returned home in an inebriated state on Monday night and entered into a heated exchange with their mother and pushed her on the ground, making her bleed profusely.”
Later, when Rajan came to know that Sandeep had pushed their mother, he strangled him in a fit of rage. Thereafter he set his body afire and buried his remains in a room.
