THANE:
Kalyan BJP MLA
Ganpat Gaikwad's son Pranav Gaikwad was recently duped of over Rs 39 lakh by a worker from his own firm.
The incident came to light when Pranav registered a complaint at the
Kolsewadi police station regarding the fraud.
According to his complaint, the accused Ashish Kumar Choudhary worked as a software developer at Pranav's firm Micronet Enterprises.
Choudhary had pitched the idea to Pranav that they should create educational material at their firm and sell it to institutions. He had said that it will be beneficial for schools and colleges since classes have gone online due to the pandemic and that it will also yield them a good amount of profit.
Pranav, who liked the idea, gave his nod, unaware of Choudhary's intentions.
From October 2020 to December 2020, the accused took a total of Rs 39.20 lakhs Pranav under the pretence of building the software programs. He also said that the
DY Patil institute and Jalgaon University are ready to purchase the software and even showed fake emails and documents to Pranav regarding the same.
However, soon after Choudhary disappeared with the entire amount. On growing suspicious, Pranav examined the documents that were submitted to him by the accused, only to find out that they had been forged.
He then approached the police, who have now launched an investigation into the case.
A hunt for finding Choudhary's whereabouts and nabbing him is underway, officials informed.
