TN's Cauvery delta region witnesses protests over Mekedatu

Greater Chennai corporation debris kills Miyawaki forest

Lockdown spurs more minor marriages in Coimbatore district
The district has seen an increasing number of child marriages during the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown to contain the contagion. As per the data available with the social welfare department, 21 minor girls were married off so far this year, compared to just three in 2020.
Fresh cases of Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu dropped to 2,312 on Friday compared t0 2,405 on Thursday and 2,458 on Wednesday. The state registered 46 deaths, pushing the cumulative death toll to 33,652. With this the case tally in Tamil Nadu touched 25.31 lakh covid cases. After discharging 2,986 people from the state registry, there were 29,230 people still under treatment for the viral infection.

Tambaram-Trichy highway to do away with blackspots, get safer

Exempt us from giving medical seats for all-India quota: Tamil Nadu
Besides exemption from NEET, Tamil Nadu has also sought the Centre’s nod to free itself from allocating UG, PG and super-speciality medical seats in state-run institutions to All India Quota (AIQ), health minister Ma Subramanian has said. If the request is accepted, more than 1,700 more medical seats, including 500 MBBS seats, will be available for TN students, he said. But the decision may also deny TN students the option of getting into government medical colleges of other states. Read more
