Curfew in Manipur from July 18 : CM Biren

Imphal, Jul 16 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Friday announced the imposition of a ten-day curfew in the state from July 18 in view of a surge in Corona cases.

He said 1000 new Covid on daily basis in such a small state is a frightening scenario. People need to understand the gravity of the situation.

'We have to protect ourselves and if the situation is not controlled it was be disastrous,' the Chief Minister said. There is no shortage of oxygen, vaccination was going on in full swing. Doctors, nurses were recruited to meet the challenges he added.

He said he was ready to touch the feet of the people to request them not to come out for the next ten days. He said religious festivals should be held by observing the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).



State Health department said in an order that only essential activities related to vaccination, Covid testing, medical services, water supply, power supply, telecom/internet services, air travel and agricultural activities would be allowed.

Meanwhile, concerned Deputy Commissioners of the districts bordering Myanmar have issued orders suspending for one month the Free Movement Regime (FMR) along Indo-Myanmar Border .
