Amritsar: The Beas police have booked Preet Amritsaria and his unknown accomplices on the charge of attempt to murder after they allegedly opened fire outside a house in Dolenangal village. The complainant, Kuldeep Singh (49), alleged that his son Prem Dhillon, who is a singer, has been living in Canada for the last two years. He said on July 2, the accused called and demanded Rs 10 lakh as ransom. He said on Tuesday at around 7.45 pm, a car came outside their house and started indiscriminate firing. He said they ran away from the spot in order to save themselves. Investigating Officer Sikander Lal said a case under Section 307 of the IPC and the Arms Act has been registered against Preet and his accomplices. TNS
Man booked for raping woman
Amritsar: The Amritsar rural police have booked Sarwan Singh of Bhindisaida area for allegedly raping a married woman. Though the incident occurred on May 1, a complaint was lodged with the police yesterday. The 25-year-old victim told the police that she was sleeping along with her children at her residence when the accused raped her. Her husband had gone to Ajnala grain market for work. When he returned he told her husband about the incident. TNS
