A violent brawl involving 15 youths has left one teen fighting for his life after he was stabbed in a Woolworths supermarket. 

On Thursday evening, a brawl erupted at a Woolworths in Broadmeadows Shopping centre, Melbourne, leaving one 16-year-old boy critically injured with a stab wound to his stomach. 

Police have described the scene as a 'life-threatening' attack, however have confirmed the incident was not gang related. 

Disturbing footage shows the young man standing in pool of his own blood in the bakery aisle of the supermarket, while shocked bystanders rush to his aid. 

Wearing a white blood soaked t-shirt, the boy is seen clutching his stab wound while shoppers gently lower him to the ground to perform emergency first-aid.

Police arrested six teens aged between 13 to 16 and issued a caution notice, it is believed at this stage no charges have been laid.

The horrific incident has raised significant public alarm in the Broadmeadows area.

Despite the confronting scene Superintendent Peter Lardner assured members of the public the attack was not random or gang-related. 

'This sort of group are just a group of youths that hang around with each other without any sort of systemic hierarchy or engaged systems of how they do their business.' He said.
