Gurgaon: Over 900 families residing in
Ramprastha City located in
Sector 37D have been facing water shortage for the past 10-15 days.
On Thursday, a group of residents met the deputy commissioner and sought his intervention to resolve their water woes. This comes a day after when the residents called the police as taps in all the towers ran dry and demanded action against the developer for failing to ensure essential services. They said that the situation has become bad to worse in the last four days as they are hardly getting any
water supply in their households.
Mohita Arora, a resident said, “We have been suffering for the last 15 days and even on Thursday there is no water supply since morning. They are providing water only for two hours and whatever little we could store we are keeping it for emergency. I had moved in here last year and if they don’t have capability to manage a premium society then they should stop selling flats.”
The residents said that most of the people are working from home and without water they are struggling. They alleged that either the water is being used in STP as it is not functioning properly or being diverted for some construction purpose.
When contacted, Sanjay Chaudhary, general manager, facility management, said, “During the winter, we were receiving 600-650KLD water and now we are receiving around 430-450KLD water from GMDA. The same is being supplied to all the towers’ overhead tanks which is sufficient for 850 families as per the government norm. As of now, we are supplying the water twice a day and cannot supply the water 24 hoursOur senior management is in talk with the residents and we are hoping to resolve the issue soon.”
Meanwhile, Ankita Choudhary, SDM (North), said that she has received the complaint on Thursday and hoping to resolve the matter by next week. “Will be conducting a site visit along with the concerned GMDA official next week and accordingly necessary measure will be taken to resolve the problem,” she added.
