Jind: The Jind district administration has imposed a ban on ‘kanwar yatra’ for this year and the police have erected extra barricading at all entry and exit points to stop the movement of pilgrims. Deputy commissioner (DC) Aditya Dahiya and superintendent of police(SP) Waseem Akram have jointly appealed to the citizens not to go to Haridwar to bring ‘kanwar’ and action would be taken under the Disaster Management Act, if anyone was find violating the orders.
On seeing the probable third Covid-19 wave, the district administration took the step to stop the inter-state movement and ensuring proper check post. Notably, pilgrims have been visiting Haridwar to bring ‘kanwar’ every year, but this year the Uttarakhand government has suspended the entry of outsiders to avoid any worse situation.
Therefore, Jind district authorities have sought cooperation from the masses in public interest. Moreover, the authorities have also appealed to maintain peace and harmony by avoiding circulating any hate or fake news in the area or strict action would be taken against them.
There are four active coronavirus cases in the district and 536 persons have been died so far.
