Jul. 16—Stephen J. Bayer
TAMAQUA — A borough man charged with assaulting a woman at his home in Tamaqua on March 5 appeared for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer.
Korey M. Gruver, 32, of 229 Pine St., was arrested by Tamaqua police Patrolman Karl Harig and charged with one count each of felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment.
Bayer dismissed the charge of aggravated assault and held the remaining two offenses to Schuylkill County Court where Gruver can enter a guilty plea or plead not guilty and request a trial.
Harig charged Gruver with a 1:05 a.m. incident where he assaulted Nicole Miller, who came to the home to visit her friend Nichole Fuller.
It was at the home Miller reported Gruver "just went off" and punched her in the face, Harig said.
The woman went on to report that Gruver went to an upstairs area of the home but then returned and punched her again, the officer said.
Harig said Miller was seen at St. Luke's Lehighton Campus where medical personnel determined she suffered a nasal bone fracture and a head injury.
