Not in favour of imposing RT PCR negative report condition on tourists: Jai Ram Thakur

Shimla, Jul 14 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday said that his government is not in favour of imposing restrictions on tourists via RT PCR negative report condition when no cases of coronavirus are being reported in the hilly state itself.
This statement came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern over the large gathering at the hill station.
Interacting with the media, he said that the prime minister's concern was not only for Himachal Pradesh but all hill states where tourists are thronging in a large number and violating COVID-19 norms.

The directions have been issued to the state police to regulate the crowded tourist places and take strong action against those who are not following proper covid appropriate behaviour.
''It would not be proper decision to reimpose the RT PCR report condition on the entry of the tourists as it would also affect the movement of other people who are not tourists to commute on the state borders should be provided hassle-free entry,'' he said adding that common man has suffered a lot during the pandemic due to similar restrictions.
He said that Covid cases are not declining as fast, however black fungus and death cases have come down, which is a sigh of relief for the people. ''The restrictions could not be eased out at once,'' he added.
We have got a proposal from the parents of students and a coaching academy to start regular classes as students are suffering due to the closing down of such institutions, however, schools and other institutions would continue to be closed, the chief minister told media.
