OPSC Recruitment 2021: Process begins for recruitment of 320 associate professors in state universities

This is a breather for these universities which are facing a lot of problems due to shortage of faculty members. Starting from teaching to research works and guiding PhD scholars, a smaller number of teachers remains a major issue in the universities.
Applications are invited for these posts in 50 subjects including English, Physics, Anthropology, Zoology, Law, Economics, Dharma Shastra, Advaita Vedanta, Nyaya, Veda, Sarva Darshan and Vyakaran.
Out of the 320 associate processors, Ravenshaw University Cuttack will get the highest share (52 teachers) followed by Utkal University (44), Berhampur University (36), Rajendra University Balangir (36), Kalahandi University Bhawanipatna (32), Rama Devi Women’s University Bhubaneswar (28), Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University Baripada (27), Gangadhar Meher University Sambalpur (22), Sambalpur University (20), Fakir Mohan University Balasore (14) and Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University Puri (09).
The OPSC has already started recruitment of assistant professors for 12 state universities. “In November last year, we had given requisition to the OPSC for the appointment of assistant professors. This process is underway, and we will get a fresh batch of assistant professors after a few months,” said an official of the higher education department.
Earlier, university teacher recruitment had been conducted by the respective universities. But the state government had amended the Odisha Universities Act, 1989 last year and decided to conduct the teacher recruitment through the OPSC.
