NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of Biocon (up 0.98 per cent), Alkem Laboratories (up 0.41 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories (up 0.05 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Lupin (down 0.85 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (down 0.73 per cent), Cadila Healthcare (down 0.5 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (down 0.43 per cent) and Cipla (down 0.36 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.27 per cent down at 14467.45.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 70.25 points at 15924.2, while the BSE Sensex stood up 254.8 points at 53158.85.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, SAIL and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Datamatics Glob, Shyam Century Ferro, Sobha, L&T Tech and Alkali Metals hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Walpar Nutritions Ltd., SVP Global, Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd. and SKS Textiles hit their fresh 52-week lows.
