Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 86.5 points to 15940.45 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Walpar Nutritions Ltd., SVP Global, Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd. and SKS Textiles, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 26 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 24 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, HCL Tech, L&T, Tech Mahindra, Hindalco and Wipro were among top gainers, while ONGC, Eicher Motors, Coal India Ltd, Grasim Inds. and Bharti Airtel traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 319.87 points up at 53223.92 at 02:39PM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in IT Enabled Services, Diversified, Construction, Metals - Ferrous and Miscellaneous sectors, while selling was visible in Plastics, Gems and Jewellery, Chemicals, Industrial Consumables and Electric/Electronics sectors.
